Hi-Way House in The Dalles, Oregon - Restaurant Review

Candus
When my family moved to The Dalles, Oregon, area a few months ago we were looking for great restaurants in the area. We asked a few people and all of them suggested we try out The Hi- Way House in town. They all pretty much said the same thing. Don't let the outside of the building fool you in thinking it's not great food to be had inside.

We decided a few weeks back to give it a try. It is right off the freeway in town and the looks out side said they were very busy on the inside. The parking lot was packed with cars. We went in to find that this place was a dream come true. One look over the menu and we were very pleased to find they had just about everything imaginable.

Our waitress was very friendly and helped us by suggesting a few things that were some crowd pleasers. One thing we tried was the Steak plate. This steak was cooked just like I ordered and grilled in butter and herbs and tender and juicy. I thought I was going to have to get a to go box but I devoured the whole thing.

They also serve Halibut dishes as well as Salmon. The Dalles Oregon area is known for their fresh caught Salmon. They also have appetizers for your enjoyment as well as fresh salads. Try one of their many pasta dishes if you enjoy pasta, might I recommend their chicken fettuchini. This restaurant was very clean and so was the restroom.

I also enjoyed being able to relax and have a great steak dinner and enjoyed their martini bar. The prices are very affordable at Hi-Way House between 10.00 to 15.00 dollars a person. It's according to whether or not you order a appetizer and how many drinks you order but I would say this was an over all great dining experience for my family.

I have continues to search the area for a steak and have found none. So if your moving here or just passing through I suggest if you want a steak or a good piece of fresh fish then stop by here and eat. They are friendly folks who generally care about their customers, you can tell this by how many regular's dine here on the weekends.

This restaurant is at 2434 E. Second St.
