Hold You Close

I can feel your soft body beside me.

The smell of your skin and hair fill my nose.

These are two of the reasons I look forward to going to bed each night

Because I get to hold you close.

Throughout the day, I just go through the motions.

Going to work, playing with the kids and watching TV.

To tell you the truth, I can't wait until it's time for bed.

Just so I can have you lie near me.

It doesn't matter what the weather does

It could be snowing and blowing outside.

Just as long as I hold you close

I'm as warm as I would be in a tropical paradise.

There are days when the weight of the world is on my shoulders.

It can leave me weary, drained and beaten.

But, each morning I wake up rejuvenated

Because, when I hold you close, for a few hours at least, I feel like I'm in Heaven.
