Holding Confidence in a Poor Economy

Confidence is one of those skills business professionals shouldn't do without. Confidence can impact your life in many ways including your income level and opportunities. Confidence is that feeling of our ability to compete with other people to obtain the resources that we want. As everyone is competing for these resources those who have experienced the most success are likely to feel the most confidence.

Even though the economy has declined it doesn't mean that one should not have confidence. Just because there are less resources doesn't mean you still can't obtain them. It only means you are going to have to work harder for the more limited sustenance. Success requires a little more work then before but it can be accomplished.

Confidence is built over a person's lifetime. The insight we gain from engaging in different actions helps us understand what skills we have, what skills we are lacking, and how to improve those skills. We learn with each new interaction whether or not we can compete. Some can and some cannot but it is only through trial and error we learn.

Those who have competed effectively in the past are more likely to believe that they can compete effectively in the future. It is about an inherent belief that you can learn the skills necessary to master your environment and it is very difficult to trick yourself into believing it without trial by fire. A person must have unbridled honesty and insight into themselves in order to have confidence.

The difference between a man who has confidence and one who doesn't is their actions and behaviors when faced with challenges. Those who have confidence are just a little less afraid of the competition and even if they shy from the challenge they will eventually jump into it if need be. They are willing to give it their best effort.

Success in a poor economy requires some level of confidence. Those who shy away from competition aren't likely to get even a crumb from the little bit of the pie that is left. There simply isn't enough in the business world to get right now and anything a person does get will require a little energy. If you don't have confidence it is about time you learn new skills and develop it.
