Holiday Craft Ideas for Kids

J. Darling
Very soon another winter break from school will be upon us, and what a better way to spend all those extra hours with your child than engaging in holiday craft activities! Your child will enjoy having a constructive activity to take part in as opposed to sitting in front the television set and you'll be able to spend some quality time together while flexing those creative muscles. There are a number of holiday craft ideas available online, here are just a few.

Christmas Crafts
1. Children ages 4 and older can help decorate your Christmas tree with Reindeer Ornaments, Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments, Recycled CD Ornaments, or a Handprint Santa Ornament.
2. Children can make a Paper Bag Reindeer puppet and then use their imaginations with a puppet show.
3. A tree made from handprints would look great on the front or back of a door.
4. Paper plate snowmen are a great winter craft project.

Hanukkah Crafts
1. This tutorial lists instructions for making a Menorah out of toilet paper rolls.
2. Children will enjoy making and wearing this Hanukkah crown.
3. These are instructions for a Paper Dreidel Craft and a Dreidel made from pony beads.
4. If you'd like to decorate with a paper Star of David, here are those directions.

Kwanzaa Crafts
1. Children can make "candles" out of toilet paper rolls to decorate the table. (No fire involved!)
2. For the celebration table, here is a festive Placemat craft.
3. For some history on Kwanzaa and directions for a Kinara craft, this is a good link.
4. Here is a tutorial for a Kwanzaa hat children can make and wear.
