Holiday Crafts: Gold & White 'Noel' Accent Table

Landra Lynn Jacobs
This beautiful gold and white 'noel' accent table makes a great holiday addition to your living space. Create one table for a simple accent piece or a pair for use in a bedroom or guest room. This table would also be a great table to place a small Christmas tree on as part of your holiday decorating.

For this project, you will need (per accent table):

- One small unfinished wooden accent table
- Several sheets of medium and/or fine grit sandpaper
- Tack cloth or other similar style soft cloth
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Dover White
- Krylon Premium Metallic Paint in Gold Foil
- Computer with printer
- Cardstock
- Self healing mat
- Craft knife
- Masking tape
- Craft paper or dissembled paper bag
- Newsprint and/or a large sized drop cloth

Use a large drop cloth or several sheets of old newsprint to protect your work area. Sand down the wooden accent table using medium and/or fine grit sandpaper sheets.

Prime the table using an even layer of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Let the primer set for about thirty minutes. Paint the table using several thick coats of Krylon Premium Metallic Paint in Gold Foil. Let the paint dry until it is no longer tacky when touched.

Decide which font you want to use for your 'noel' wording and how big. Use a computer word processing program to create the lettering template. Print the lettering out onto cardstock. Lay the print out flat on the self healing mat. Carefully cut out the lettering with a craft knife. Discard the lettering cutouts but keep the remaining cardstock piece for use as a painting template.

Attach the cardstock to the center of the top of the gold accent table using masking tape. Make sure that the cardstock piece absolutely cannot move around. Cover all additional areas except the wording using masking tape and craft paper or a dissembled paper bag. Spray the exposed lettering with Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Dover White. Keep adding coats of paint until you can no longer see the gold shining through. Dry completely before removing all paper and tape.

TIP: This project also looks excellent when Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Banner Red is used in lieu of gold paint. Or, consider using Krylon Premium Metallic Paint in Silver Foil.
