For this project, you will need (per cupcake topper):
- One wooden skewer
- Scissors
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Satin Ballet Slipper
- Four inch circle shaped stencil
- Three inch circle shaped stencil
- Two inch circle shaped stencil
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Animal print scrapbook paper (leopard, zebra, giraffe, etc.)
- Light pink colored cardstock
- Bright pink colored cardstock
- Craft knife
- Self healing mat
- Elmer's glue stick
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Pink themed cupcakes
- Newspaper and/or a large drop cloth
Lay out several sheets of old newspaper and/or a large drop cloth. Cut a wooden skewer in half using scissors. Prime the skewer using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Once dry, paint the skewer using two coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Satin Ballet Slipper. Set aside to dry for several hours.
Lay a sheet of bright pink colored cardstock onto the self healing mat. In pencil, trace the four inch circle shape from stencil. In the same fashion, lay out the animal print paper and create a two inch circle shape from stencil. Finally, repeat this step using the two inch circle shaped stencil and the light pink colored cardstock. Cut out each of the circles with a craft knife.
Use a ruler and a pencil to draw a one and a half inch Christmas tree shaped design onto the bright pink cardstock. Carefully cut out the design with the craft knife. Apply Elmer's glue stick to the back of the tree shape. Adhere the tree shape to the light pink circle. Repeat this, adhering the light pink circle to the animal print circle, and the animal print circle to the bright pink circle. Let the glue dry fully.
Heat up the hot glue gun and glue sticks. Adhere the non-point end of the pink painted skewer to the back of the paper circles. Once the glue has cooled, insert the cupcake topper in a similar pink themed cupcake and enjoy.
TIP: If drawing a pink Christmas tree free hand is too difficult, consider using a small metal cookie cutter or scrapbook template.
