Candles are considered many things by others. When someone gives you a candle as a gift, it is customary to light it immediately to show your thanks.
On the holidays there are many ways to use candles for decorating.
Candles can be short, tall, thin or fat. It can be shaped like a star, a Santa Claus or other figure.
All shapes and styles work as long as you enjoy it.
Choose where you put your candle decorations carefully.
One idea is putting a number of candles on a silver tray makes for a delightful setting. Put a few berries around it and it can be quite festive.
Candles can also be placed on mantels. A few greens and it looks like a typical holiday scene.
Placed in areas where it can hit a mirror gives off magnificent reflections. It also gives the impression of an old fashioned setting and very other decoration are needed.
It's also nice if you wrap branches or put pinecones around candles anywhere you use them.
A nice idea is to put candles near photographs. It's a great way to show off family members. Just be sure not to put them too close to a picture as candles can easily start fires.
You can put a candle in a bowl with salts. Sometimes several together in a bowl with salt also makes a nice centerpiece. They will drip interesting colors and designs in the bowl.
You can put candles in a votive and decorate it with holiday colored linens. Green and red are typical Christmas colors, but candles can be black or white or whichever color you choose.
A nice centerpiece using candles involves a large branch. You can hollow out a hole in the center and place a candle or a candle in a glass in the branch. Decorate the branch with holly, cones or fruit to add any even more holiday look. You can also make smaller ones and place them around the room as well.
A bowl that can withstand heat filled with various fruits and a candle centerpiece is also special.
A serving table with candles in varying heights makes for a fabulous effect.
Some people like a large number of candles. It is very beautiful, but dangerous so keep your eyes open.
Another beautiful yet dangerous idea is to put candles on the tree. Tea lights or electric candles are preferred to prevent a fire.
Luminaries are also great for the holidays. They can light up a pathway or just give a bright feel to a home.
There are many ways to use candles. The glow and moving flame make for a special feel. If used properly, a candle or two can make your home very festive.
