Holiday E-Cards for Free

Renee Bodkin

The holidays are a busy, hectic time of the year. We find ourselves immersed in shopping, decorating, baking and just trying to keep up with the regular every day activities. Sending holiday cards is an important part of the holiday season. Though sending holiday cards can get quite expensive when your list includes: family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, online friends, acquaintances from your children's school, and the list goes on and on. A great alternative to mailing holiday cards is sending e-cards.

E-cards are great for all occasions. There are e-cards for every imaginable holiday, celebration, event, and reason to send an e-card. You wouldn't imagine all the possibilities until you start searching some of the best sources for free e-cards online. A great thing about holiday e-cards is that you can customize your message accordingly and pick specific e-cards according to the person you are sending it to. If you would prefer to send your Jewish friend a Hanukkah e-card, you can. If you want to send a religious Merry Christmas e-card to someone on your list, go for it. And if you'd rather send a more generic Happy Holidays greeting e-card, that's fine too. The point is there are holiday e-cards for everyone.

Some great sources for free holiday e-cards are:

1. 123Greetings.com - This free e-card website is fabulous! I clicked on the Christmas Link and found a choice of 37 sub-categories. Yes, I said 37, and that is only for Christmas! It is so great; it's almost overwhelming. Then of course there are a number of sub-categories under each of these categories: Season's Greetings, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Years, and they even have Winter Solstice e-cards! The best part of this site is that they are all free and of course, the huge selection. You're sure to find a free holiday e-card for all your e-card needs!!

2. EncouragementCards.com - What a pleasant surprise this website for free Christmas e-cards was! They have seven pages of free Christmas e-cards. Their cards are limited to Christmas e-cards because they are through ChristianityToday.com. This is definitely a site to check out for thoughtful Christmas, Christ-centered cards. My curiosity got the best of me and I had to check out some of their free e-cards. One that jumped out at me was a cute, animated card with music playing (a Christmas carol) and to gingerbread people (I think girls) coming out of the oven, being placed in a cookie jar, then making their escape together. The card then said, "We've been through a lot together. I wonder what next year will bring." It ended with a simple Christmas wish and a line of scripture.

3. BlueMountain.com - I've always enjoyed real Blue Mountain cards, I was intrigued and excited to see that they had e-cards. There's a glitch though. Many of the e-cards available are for "Members Only". But, they offer a free one-month membership for e-cards and printable cards, which is fine but to get that membership you DO need to input your personal information and give a credit card number. If you don't cancel your membership within the first month then your credit card will be charged a $13.95 yearly fee. They do have FREE e-cards available but the selection is definitely not as great as it is for members. There are e-cards for: Christmas, Season's Greetings, New Year, Hanukkah, and many more.

4. WishCards.org - This is an extra special site for holiday e-cards because it is through Make-a-Wish foundation. By sending one of their FREE e-cards, you will become part of the Make-A-Wish Online News Network and receive regular e-mail updates. They have e-cards for all occasions. They have animated, musical e-cards for Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter, and New Year's. Many of the e-cards feature artwork by Make-a-Wish kids.

These four sources for free holiday e-cards is a great place to start when looking for a variety of free holiday e-cards! You're sure to find an e-card to suit your every need!

Thanks Amy!! I thought I'd touch on some of the less popular ones. I'm pretty sure American Greetings also has them too. :)
