Holiday Events 2008 for Findlay, Ohio

Findlay, Ohio offers several outings and activities for families during the holiday season. If you want to spend quality time doing something other than shopping or eating, tou don't have to travel far. Check out one of these fun events below happening through the end of this holiday season.

Train Rides

The Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation, Inc. is offering the North Pole Express starting November 8 and running through January 3, 2009. Rides are available Friday evenings from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Saturday evenings from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and Sunday evenings from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Cost per train ride is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children.

The Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation, Inc. is located at 11600 County Road 99 in Findlay, and the location includes a museum decorated for Christmas, gift shop, and hot refreshments after a cold train ride.

Lights Before Christmas

A northwest Ohio tradition is back at the Toledo Zoo's Lights Before Christmas. After a short ride to Maumee, Ohio, families can enjoy the amazement of a zoo changed into a living Winter Wonderland. The Lights Before Christmas runs from November 21 through December 31, and can be seen Monday through Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and Friday through Sunday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Admission price is for the entire zoo.

Breakfast with Santa

The Northwest Ohio chapter of Camp Fire Girls will host Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 6, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the Camp Fire USA office on West Hardin Street in Findlay.

For a price of $3 for children and seniors, and $5 for adults, families can enjoy a family style breakfast with Santa himself, as well as pictures with the big guy, and time to make a Christmas craft. Reservations are required by December 3, and can be made by calling 419-422-5415.

A Christmas Carol for Grown Ups

The Fort Findlay Playhouse will present "Charles Dickens: 'A Christmas Carol': A Traviling Travesty in Two Tumultous Acts" December 4 through 7 and December 11 through 13. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by calling the Arts Partnership at 419-422-4624.

Spending time together for the holidays does not have to be only about the presents and the chaos. Time spent together can be the best present of all, and Findlay offers plenty of opportunities to share the magic of the holidays with your family.
