If you plan on being in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for the 2006 holiday season, there are plenty of events and celebrations scheduled this year. You don't need to look very far for something to get your in the spirit of the holidays. Tree lighting events, Christmas parades, holiday music and festivities for the entire family can be found. Many events are free and some charge an admittance fee, but there will be something for everyone, both young and old. Just get ready to go out and enjoy the beauty of the season in Cheyenne, Wyoming this year.

The 16th Annual Cheyenne Christmas Parade with the theme Christmas Memories will take place on Saturday, November 25. The parade begins at 5 PM on 17th Street and Carey Avenue, then north on Carey to 24th Street, then turns right to Capitol Avenue. The parade makes another right on Capitol and heads back down to 16th street. It makes another right on 16th, and ends at Pioneer Avenue.

The parade last year featured 140 brightly lit floats, horse drawn wagons, bands, clowns, antique autos, and marching groups. It lasts nearly an hour and 15 minutes and is considered one of the finest Christmas Parades in the Rocky Mountain area. Children and adults won't want to miss this spectacular holiday parade. It will get you in the spirit of the season and help usher in the Christmas holiday for everyone in attendance.

The Christmas Craft Show, featuring handmade gifts and crafts, is held at Historic Plains Hotel. Event time is November 24-25, from 10am to 8pm. Hundreds of unique gift items can be found at this holiday event. Come prepared to find gifts for all the people on your hard to buy for list. Contact Lisa Provance at 778-8626 for more information.

There will also be a free concert at the Civic Center at 7:00 pm to 8:30pm. on November 24th.

The Cheyenne All-City Children's Chorus will perform again this holiday season. This Cheyenne-based group of children in grades four through eight has performed throughout Wyoming and all across the United States and in Canada in national choral conventions, conferences and festivals. Not surprisingly, the ACCC has become recognized as one of the finest children's choruses in the United States.

December 9, 10, 11, 2006 is the Christmas Choral Festival at St Mary's Cathedral. There is free admission, but tickets are required and are available at the Chamber of Commerce or local music stores.

Saturday, November 18, 2006 is the Lighting of the Depot Plaza. There will be caroling and the lighting of Cheyenne's Christmas tree and the Plaza decorations. Scheduled starting time is 6:00pm. On Saturday, November 18, 2006is the Gingerbread House Contest.
Participants can build and decorate a gingerbread house and enter the contest. There will be categories for professionals and amateurs, adults and children. Dust off your artistic and creative side and try your hand a sweet construction. Call for more details.

Thursday, November 23, 2006 thru Thursday, November 30, 2006 is the Festival of Trees.
Over 15 decorated trees can be seen and you can pick the one that's right for you and bid on it at the Festival of Trees Auction on Thursday, November 30. Viewing of the trees in the Cheyenne Depot Lobby during the week is free. For auction details and costs, contact the Business Leadership Network at 432-0110.
