The holiday season is gearing up. If you want to save your money for presents, but still want to treat the kids to some holiday fun, Findlay offers many options. From shopping for a cause to train rides through Wonderland, you and your little ones will find many ways to celebrate the holidays.

Sunday, November 11, 7PM-9:30PM

Start your holiday shopping early at the Findlay Village Mall with the United Way's Fourth Annual Night of Giving. For $5 in advance, or $10 at the door, you and your little ones (kids under 3 are free) can take advantage of entertainment, children's activities, raffles, free food samples, and shopping discounts at participating retailers. Portions of the night's proceeds will benefit the United Way of Hancock County.

Sunday, November 18, 1PM-4PM

Take the kids for one more park outing before the snow hits. The Oakwoods Nature Preserve Discovery Center will host a presentation called "Hibernate, Migrate, Survive" to educate kids and adults on the local animals' winter habits. Activities, crafts and information will be available at this presentation hosted by the Hancock County Park District.

Monday, November 19-December 21, 6PM-8PM

Winterfest kicks off at the Dorney Plaza in downtown Findlay. Mondays through Fridays, you can treat your little ones to wagon rides, miniature train rides, and a trip to Santa's House at this winter play area sponsored by Kiwanis, Campfire USA and the Findlay Downtown Area Association.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 23-December 30, 6PM-9PM

The Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation, Inc. at 11600 CR 99 will be offering train rides through their decorated winter wonderland at a cost of $2 for adults and $1 per child. Train sides are open so riders can enjoy the crisp winter air.

Friday, November 30, 1:30PM

The Litzenberg Memorial Woods McKinnis House will be hosting a winter tea, where you and your children can learn about pioneer life, listen to live dulcimer music and enjoy hot tea and snacks. Registration is required and can be made through the Hancock Park District. There is a cost of $6 per person. Space is limited, so register by November 29.

Saturday, December 8 6PM-9PM

The McKinnis House will again open its doors for a "fireside visit" so that curious children can find out why the McKinnis family may or may not celebrate Christmas this year.
