A wonderful free holiday event at Sanctuary at Sanibel Community Church is being held this week from December 3, 2009 - December 5, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The theme is "Walk Through Bethlehem". The church will be altered to look like the town of Bethlehem. There will be shop keepers, beggars, and Roman Soldiers walking about. Of course the journey through the town will take you to the manager. There is also a petting zoo and holiday cookies to eat.

Sanibel Luminary Festival
25th annual Luminary Festival on Sanibel and Captiva Islands

5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Both Sanibel and Captiva Islands in Florida are celebrating this year's 25th annual Luminary Festival. The celebration begins on December 4, 2009 on Sanibel from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Then the following day the celebration continues on December 5, 2009 on Captiva Island. There are activities for everyone to enjoy. This includes music, photos with Santa, a live nativity scene, and a free trolley service.

Bailey's Center Merchants Association
Silver Luminary Festival

As part of the 25th annual Luminary Festival Bailey's Center Merchant's Association (BCMA) is having a Silver Luminary Festival. It will be on December 4, 2009 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bailey's Center on the corner of Tarpon Bay Road and Periwinkle Way. In honor of the Silver Luminary Festival it is asked that visitors wear silver. There will be free snacks and drinks for guests to enjoy plus kids can decorate Christmas ornaments to take home. Everyone will enjoy the lighting of the Bailey's Center tree at 6:30 p.m.

The holiday season would not be complete without the ballet show of The Nutcracker Suites. The Gulfshore Ballet is having two shows on December 5, 2009 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets cost for adults $10 for the matinee show and $15 for the evening show. The matinee show is free for children and costs $10 for the evening performance.
