Holiday Fruitcake

A Year of Poems: Day Three Hundred and Forty-Six

Diane Zoller-Ciatto
Much maligned
Frequently regifted
The pariah of foods
Never shoplifted!

Some are soaked in brandy
Some are soaked in rum
You'd have to soak it in gold
To make me want some!

But year after year
They sell these sweet confections
While others label them
With inarticulate interjections!!
