Holiday Haircolor Trends for 2010

These Haircolors and Hues Are Sure to Rock Christmas Parties This Year

Holiday hair color trends for 2010 should be relatively consistent for the average woman. Holiday parties are typically a time of dressing up and accentuating the person we are 365 days a year but perhaps with a bit more aplomb than usual. To that end, holiday dye jobs should be about making your own hair color look great or showing off the hair color you have chosen.

Holiday Hair Color Trends for 2010 - Blonde Hair

With the exception of perpetually platinum hair worn by ladies such as Gwen Stefani, blonde hair is best accentuated with a variety of shades in keeping with the base color. If you have blonde hair, visit your local salon and ask for thin highlights and lowlights within two shades, at most three, of your natural hair color.

The highlights are going to help add a bit of brightness to your winter look and keep you looking sun-streaked during the cold weather while the lowlights help create the illusion of shine and added depth. If you are a bit uneasy about having both highlights and lowlights at the same time, or if you stylist doesn't recommend it for your particular shade of blonde, opt for the highlights first and visit again for the lowlights a couple of weeks later.

Holiday Hair Color Trends for 2010 - Brown Hair

Brown hair hasn't really swept the celebrity world this year. While past seasons have seen crops of starlets dye their hair darker, albeit temporarily, 2010 has stayed pretty consistent with existing hair colors reigning supreme. That being said, two of the brunettes perpetually on everyone's lips are Katy Perry and Megan Fox, in particular the former in 2010. If you opt for brown hair this winter, request a glossy, darker shine like these two ladies possess. A darker shade of brown such as brown umber is very striking against the paler skin so many of us rock in winter!

Holiday Hair Color Trends for 2010 - Red Hair

The biggest news in red hair this year was Lindsay Lohan returning to a strawberry-blonde shade of hair prior to her second rehab journey. If you want to experiment with red hair this year, go Lindsay's route, minus the drug problems, of course. Opt for a lighter shade of red with plenty of subtle, sun-kissed highlights. This will help your hair stay glossy looking throughout the dull winter days while adding a bit of pep to your complexion.

Holiday hair color trends for 2010 seem to revolve around showing off the hair you have or the color you've chosen for your own versus extending to a completely new look. Whether this is a reflection on the still-slumped economy, a late blooming autumn, or an unknown factor is hard to say, but whatever the reason, the takeaway is to rock your current look to its highest level!
