We were recently at a wedding in the very pretty town of Rock Hill, Maryland. We got a great price at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites at 150 Chestertown, Maryland. Their phone number is 410-777-80778.

Chestertown is an historic town so you can find walking tours you can do on your own or guided tours. The day we went into town there was a farmer's market going on. It is about 65 miles from Baltimore.

Although The Holiday Inn is rated only two stars I believe it is because there is no fancy lobby; no restaurants or gift shops; and no one to take your luggage or park your car. For us it was a perfect place to stay and I highly recommend it. There are 5 rooms that are handicapped accessible. The hotel has 3 floors and 81 rooms.

The pros:

The Holiday Inn Express has free parking.

The hotel has a wonderful free breakfast. I don't mean a nice continental breakfast. I mean a full breakfast with hard boiled eggs and yogurt, nice Danish, breakfast meats, cereals, and more. There is no table service but that was fine as well. The coffee and juice bar are available 24 hours a day. In the afternoon we found cookies in the breakfast room which had a large screen television and a fireplace.

Our room was clean and pretty. We had a king sized bed with four fluffy pillows, a night table and large chair. In addition there was a desk, chest of drawers, television, and refrigerator. The bathroom had all the amenities you would need such as shampoo and conditioner. I always look at closets liking ones that are not open. This one not only had a door but the door was mirrored.

When we were in the room one afternoon someone knocked on our door doing a spot check of the housekeeping. Now that I have never seen!

The Holiday Inn Express in Chestertown has a large indoor swimming pool that is open 24 hours and has lounges around it. It has a fitness room with two treadmills, a stationary bike, and an elliptical machine. There were no dumbbells but for a couple of days that was fine.

The cons:

For those of you who take your pets, they are not allowed at the Holiday Inn Express that we went to.

Other information:

Although there are meeting rooms this didn't seem to be the kind of hotel that attracts conferences.

It was busy- the night of the wedding we had a hard time finding a parking spot and I am surprised we got a great Priceline.com rate. The rates now are $99.00 and up. We paid $60.

The Holiday Inn Express was a great find for our trip to Chestertown and Rock Hill, MD.

Sounds nice. We always get rooms with an extra living and sleeping area so the kids can sleep in the other room so my husband can get some rest. He gets crabby when he is tired and the kids have a hard time settling down.

This sounds like awesome places. I live in Maryland. That is so cool that you'd write about my state. You did an awesome job writing, by the way.
