First, you will need to download and install Holiday Lights. If you already have Holiday Lights, please skip down to the next section of this guide. To download Holiday Lights go to downloads.com and enter Holiday Lights in the search field. When the results return click the link and then click the Download button on the next page. A box will open and ask what do you want to do with that file. Click Save As on the box. The download will only take a second. It's a real small file. Then double click the zip file and follow the steps in the box to install it. Once you have it installed, move on to the next section.
If the Holiday Lights didn't start when you finished installing it, you will need to open it from your start menu. Click your Start button then all programs and click the Holiday Lights link. You will see your lights on your desktop. You can change many different things about the lights. Next, I will show you how to manage your Christmas lights.
In your taskbar you will see a little light bulb. Right click on the light bulb and select Holiday Lights Settings. Your Settings box will open and you will see the different tabs at the top of the box. The first tab is the Bulb Factory. In this section you can change the types of bulbs that are displayed on your desktop. If you are using the trial version only a few of the bulbs will be available. To add a bulb, click the bulb in the middle window and drag it to where you want it.
You can also create your own bulbs to use. You will need to save the bulbs as a gif file. Create your bulbs and then click the Add Bulb button. When the window opens, locate the gif file, click it and click the Open button. Your new bulb will appear in the middle window. Click the bulb and drag it to where you want it. In this section you can also change the way that you bulbs blink. Drop the box down under Flash Settings and select the setting of your choice. Then below that you can set the speed. If you want your Christmas Lights to stay on top of everything, tick the On Top field under Bulb Drawing.
The next tab is the Music Box. This is where you manage your music that you want played in the background. You can use the music files that are in the program and you can add your own music. Scroll through the box and uncheck any music that you do not want played. If you want to add music, click the Add Song button. Locate the song that you want to add and open it. You can only add one song at a time.
The next tab is the Screensaver tab. This is where you set up your screensaver options. You can enter the text that you want displayed in the Text Message window. Then you can change the animation for the screensaver. The box beside that is where you select the image that you want displayed in the background. You can add your own image to the background if you want too. To change the background color, click the Background Color button and select the color that you want. You can preview your screensaver by clicking the preview button.
That's it. Click the OK button to close the settings box. To make changes, simply open your settings box and make changes. I think these Christmas lights are cool and add a real touch of Christmas to your computer.
