Hot Springs annual Christmas parade will be December 6, 2007 at 6:30 a.m. The parade starts at the intersection of Central and Whittington Avenues. The theme for the parade this year will be "Arkansas Christmas". There will be barrels set up along the parade route for donations of canned goods that will benefit the local shelters.
At dusk on December 8, 2007, the whole neighborhood which is over 350 homes, from Prospect and Quapaw to West Grand and Prospect Avenues, the intersections and all adjoining streets will be outlined with a candlelight luminary. While you are in Hot Springs, you'll want to be sure to go and see their annual "Lighting Up the Holiday Season" luminary.
In another part of Hot Springs, Garvan Woodland Gardens will have "Lights on the Landscape" starting November 17th through December 31st. Santa will be there from December 13th through 20th from 6:00 to 7:30 every night. You can go and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and spiced apple cider, as well as roasting marshmallows.
Something else you can do with the kids is taking them to eat breakfast with Santa. The Hot Springs Mall is hosting Breakfast with Santa where kids can come dressed in their pajamas on December 1, 2007 from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and eat breakfast with Santa. You have to make a reservation to participate. The cost is $5 per child and all proceeds will go to the Garland County Animal Shelter. You can call Susan Austin at 501-525-3254 to make reservations.
The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will be performing their popular Christmas Concert at the Woodlands Auditorium in Hot Springs Village on December 4, 2007. Tickets go on sale at the Woodlands box office November 24, 2007 through December 4, 2007. This concert is always a sell-out so be sure to get your tickets early if you want to plan on going to this concert.
