Holiday Lights in Virginia Beach: Another Rollicking Year of a Nautical-Themed Christmas Light Show Right on the Oceanfront
Beach Street U.S.A. And the Most Festive Oceanfront Holiday Event of the Year
Virginia Beach, VA 23456
United States of America
Sponsored by McDonald's and Verizon Wireless, visitors to the Holiday Lights at the Beach receive a free CD with Christmas music to accompany the show. (Yes, the CD has a couple of ads in the mix, too, but they probably won't kill the festive mood for you.)
In addition to the delightful nautical themes---which ensure you never forget you really are at the beach---the show, and the CD, features smile-inspiring displays to go along with each verse of "The Twelve Days of Christmas." It's sure to have the whole carload singing along---and with much ballyhoo and bravado, too! Holiday Lights at the Beach also includes patriotic displays, including a large American flag.
On the more busy nights, access to Atlantic Avenue from Pacific is blocked off for a few blocks. This helps control the "line" to get in to Holiday Lights at the Beach. The route to follow is clearly marked. On really busy nights, police are present to help traffic move smoothly.
Once cars enter Rudee Loop, the access road that passes by Rudee's Inlet and Croatan, visitors have the option of buying hot chocolate and other goodies to make merry as they see the lights.
Visitors also can buy a combo ticket, which includes entrance to the Garden of Lights show at the nearby Norfolk Botanical Gardel. Admission is on a per vehicle basis. Tickets to Holiday Lights at the Beach cost $10.00. The combo ticket costs $15.00. That's a 50% discount off the admission price to the Garden of Lights. The combo ticket provides visitors with a free daytime admission to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens as well.
The Virginia Beach Holiday Lights at the Beach is part of Virginia's "100 Miles of Lights." This mega-festival of lighted holiday creations includes stops in Richmond, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Newport News, Hampton, Portsmouth, Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
