Holiday Party on the "Cheap"

Mike C.
Some readers may think I'm crazy for what I'm about to present, but I'm serious. If you want a cheap holiday party, it is definitely possible.

Drinks: There's nothing wrong with going non-alcoholic. A big punch bowl of pre-made Punch or the frozen cans that you just add water to are cheap and easy. Sprite, Coke, Pepsi are other choices too. On the other hand, if you rather have alcoholic beverages at your party, make the event a BYOB (Bring Your Own Beer). Another option is to charge a fee to your party. At $5 a person, you could afford to buy the ingredients for Holiday drinks such as Pomegranate Martinis, Shooters, Egg Nog, etc. I'm sure if people like you they won't mind forking over the $5.

Food: Cheap food options include ordering pizza or baking frozen pizzas, frying chicken wings, and / or crock potting smokies. To go with that, you can have potato chips, cheese nips, pretzels, cheese and crackers. You could also bring out some instant potatoes, salads, and canned vegetables if you want more of a meal - that may sound really cheap, but what you don't tell your guests, they may never even know.

Entertainment: Have your Rock Band or Guitar Hero game setup for your guests to play. Play Christmas Music from a local radio station or bring out some Christmas C D s and play them softly for mood music. If you have a free TV in the house near guests, turn to a station playing a Christmas movie marathon. This should be enough options to include everyone in your party.

Decorations: You actually don't have to spend a dime on this one. If you have decorated the interior of your house for the Holidays, that's all the décor you need. If you haven't decorated, head over to your dollar store and pick up some tinsel and garland and lights.
