Holiday Season 2011 Festivities in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is home of the stars, but there are also great activities to do there especially for the holiday season. They may not get a lot of snow or feel that autumn, brisk air, but they keep up with other cities when it comes to festivities. Below find a few fun things to do in and around Los Angeles for the holiday season.

Thanksgiving
(in a Jar )
You won't actually be in a jar, but you can have a fantastic Thanksgiving meal at the American chophouse restaurant named " Jar ." Join Jar for their "spin" on Thanksgiving, and enjoy favorites such as Oyster Stew and Turkey, Sausage Stuffing, created their own way. Adults are $85 and kids $40.

Coast Beach Cafe and Bar is also having a special Thanksgiving dinner from 5 - 10pm on Thanskgiving. Enjoy the phenomenal view from one of their gorgeous tables as well as the sea breeze. This casual location, part of Shutters Hotel, will serve a 3-course Thanksgiving meal with pumpkin soup, cage-free turkey and maple pecan pie. Menu is subject to change. Adults are $45 and kids $22.50.

Chanukah
Silverlake Independent Jewish Community Center - Festival of Lights
Join the community on December 11th from 10am - 3pm to celebrate the annual Festival of Lights. Games, concerts, food and more. A popular family event. Their Winter Bookfair starts the next day, December 12th through December 16th.
Located at 1110 Bates Avenue in Los Angeles.

Seasonal / Christmas
Norris Center for the Performing Arts: Nutcracker
Enjoy this perfect, seasonal ballet December 17 & 18 at the Norris Center for the Performing Arts in Rolling Hill Estates, about a 1/2 drive south of Los Angeles. Get your tickets as soon as you can since it is a popular event. Adults cost $32 and children are $22. There are special rates for groups. Three showings.

Chinatown Los Angeles - The Undiscovered Chinatown Tour
This tour is a great holiday, local and tourist event to do in December as well as do some holiday shopping for your creative and deserving friends for Chanukah, Christmas or Kwanzaa. On December 3rd, take a tour of Chinatown with those who know the inside scoop. This is a 2 1/2 hour walking tour, so make sure you are comfortable. Enjoy temples, shops, galleries, eateries and more. You must make a reservation.
The tour starts at 10am. $20 per person. Group size is limited.
