Holiday Service Projects in Lodi, California

Lend a Helping Hand in Your Community, donate or Adopt

Lois Lunsford
A community that stands together to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate or just to help make your little piece of the world a better place to be is a good place to grow. I have been very impressed with the outpouring of events and projects to help others in our community of Lodi, and in the surrounding areas. Events, acts of kindness and sacrificing generosity beyond comparison in my book. Being helpful and supportive in ways only a caring person can put forth.

Lodi-Adopt-a-Child

I have been a part of Lodi-Adopt-a-Child for several years. Helping with my small donations of gifts for the underprivileged Children in our community and I have given some of my spare time helping out with gift wrapping, I've met some awesome people there. They always appreciate donations to help make Christmas enjoyable for Children. Anonymously a person can give to this great cause. I have also donated in the name of loved ones and friends. There are over 1,200 kids registered this year to receive some kind of help during these struggling times. Lodi- Adopt-a Child in Lodi at 100 E. Pine Street will start asking for help after Thanksgiving. You can donate monetarily or go in to the office and take an angel card to shop for a particular child. Then you bring the unwrapped item back to them and they gift wrap it for you to be given away at their Annual Christmas party. If you'd like to volunteer please go by the office or call 209) 333-1056.

Holiday at the Lake

Lodi Lake, in the middle of a beautiful community is a place that is enjoyed by everyone in so many ways. The events and recreation opportunities are endless. This year the Recreation Commission is hosting an event to bring the community out for a gathering to show off the many ways the Lake can be used. This should become an annual event to bring awareness to how we can take care of a vital resource. The Holiday at the Lake event will have Carolers, decorations with lights and free arts and crafts for the kids. Various booths, crafts for sale and refreshments are being offered. The proceeds will only go toward covering the cost of the event. Holiday at the Lake will take place on Friday, December 11th from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm and on Saturday, December 12th from noon to 8:00 pm. Bundle up and enjoy.

Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays

The "Foster a lonely Pet for the Holidays" campaign will draw on over 2,00 Animal shelters and rescues across the country for a national foster week, which will last from Christmas eve through New Year's Day. Pet Finder at, www.petfinders.com will provide the shelters with newspaper ads, radio spots and support. Check out your local listings. This is not a trick to get you to adopt. It is a great way to see if a certain pet fits your family's needs. And if by chance it is a good fit than the lucky guy has made both of you happy.

Helping people over the holidays just makes the spirit of Christmas come alive. You are a good person to help in this way.
