Directions for Holiday Spiced Rum Cake Recipe

1
Getting Everything Ready
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Lightly coat the inside of a 10-inch tube pan with spray oil and sprinkle all-purpose flour over the top. Knock loose any excess flour.
2
Making the Rum Cake
Mix the first seven ingredients in a large bowl. Pour the mixture into the pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove the cake from the oven and let cool.
3
Making the Spiced Rum Glaze
Add the remaining butter to a double boiler and stir until melted. Add the granulated sugar and slowly add the water, until the sugar melts. Increase the heat and boil the mixture for five minutes, or until thick. Remove from the heat and add the rum.
4
Putting Together Your Spiced Rum Cake
Turn the cake pan upside down on a platter or serving tray and lightly tap the bottom until the cake comes loose. Pour the rum glaze over the top and let it soak into the cake before serving.
Tip
For a more festive touch, top the spiced rum cake with hot fudge and whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
