Holiday Stocking Stuffers for Gamers

Let's face it: holiday gift giving can be pretty uninspired. Stockings get the worst of it, filled with boring unisex gifts. You blindly buy a few bags of candy, hand out some new batteries and maybe some ChapStick. Why not have a little fun with it? If you've got gamers on your holiday gift list, they'll appreciate it. Here are some ideas for holiday stocking stuffers for gamers, starting at just $2.

Shower Shock Caffeinated Soap - ThinkGeek, $6.99

The love affair between gamers and caffeine is no secret, but it's not just for ingestion anymore! Shower Shock is a caffeinated soap, which is as much a novelty item as it is actually useful. Caffeine is used in cellulite-reducing beauty products, so this soap might even help your buddy out if they've got a "Body by Xbox."

Bumper Sticker - Split Reason, $1.50 and up

Bumper stickers are a fun way to personalize your stuff. Even if the gamer in your life doesn't have a car (and therefore has no bumper), these fun stickers can be affixed to binders, a laptop or a gaming console. Split Reason is far from the only source for bumper stickers a gamer will love; some other places to look (that don't require online ordering) include Hot Topic and Spencer's Gifts.

Gift Cards - $5 and up

Does the gamer in your life stick to something specific? If she plays World of Warcraft, tuck a subscription card into her stocking. Xbox 360 fans might appreciate an Xbox Live Membership Card or a prepaid card filled with Microsoft Points. If you're not sure what games your gamer plays, a gift card to stores like GameStop or Best Buy will ensure they get a gift they'll love.

Ear Buds - Amazon, $5 and up

Outside noise can be distracting while you're trying to play a game. Gunshots, screeching tires and other video game sounds disturb a gamer's roommates. Make everyone happy with a pair of inexpensive ear buds. Brands like Skullcandy and JLab provide quality sound (and some noise-canceling properties) without a high price tag. Ear buds are also easily portable, making them convenient for use with handheld consoles, laptops and mp3 players.

Candy - ThinkGeek, $2 and up

Sure, you could just stuff stockings with Hershey's Kisses and other candy - but where's the fun in that? ThinkGeek carries lots of caffeinated or candy items, specially formulated for those marathon gaming sessions. Browsing through their "Caffeine and Edibles" category will show you plenty of unique options, from bacon-flavored mayonnaise to gumballs that taste like wasabi. Some interesting potential stocking stuffers include Miracle Berry Fruit Tablets, Pac-Man Candy, and Astronaut Ice Cream.
