Holiday Volunteers Needed at Lakeview Pantry

When I picked up my niece from the Lakeview Pantry East located at 3831 N. Broadway in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, I was surprised to see people having so much fun working the counter and restocking. Although she has been volunteering there for a long time, I really hadn't given much thought to volunteering there myself. Not until she told me how great of an organization it is and how much they give back to the community. I was especially interested in the volunteer opportunity to deliver meals to people who can't leave their homes for reasons such as illness, disability and old age. Being a nurse, delivering meals and reaching out to homebound people is something I always wanted to be involved in.

They have a couple different shifts available for the Saturday home deliveries volunteer position. The first shift is 9 am until 10:30 am and the later one goes from 10:30 am to noon. The Lakeview Pantry is also associated with the well known Greater Chicago Food Depository, which is a major food bank in the Chicago Metro area.
