I am naturally a lazy person. I am still overweight and far from my goal. I have been for years. I have tried diets and they don't work for me. Exercise is not my favorite thing to do in the world either. But I lose the most weight this time of year. I love the cold, I love the snow, and I love the thing you can do this time of year. I am the most active this time of year, if you haven't guessed already.
Here is how I lost the weight. First and foremost I changed my eating habits. I used to eat light meals and heavy snacks, late at night and then go to sleep. I had to stop that. To help build my metabolism back up to where it need for me to lose a lot of weight as fast as my body can I had to start eating three square meals a day; breakfast, lunch, and dinner with maybe two or three snacks. That stabilized my metabolism quickly. Now I can eat whatever I want but in smaller portions compared to the portions I had before. But most of the time I eat salad, cereal, and soup. It sounds like torture but those foods are high on my favorite foods list. Having even smaller portions of each can make for great snacks. I get all my nutrients for the day while I get to eat my favorite foods. This is what I like to call tricking my body into dieting. I do so by never ever calling it a diet. My body hates that word. Now that my metabolism is where it needs to be it will be easy for me to lose weight while I go through my daily activities.
Next, I take the stairs more and I park my car further away from stores and things of that sort (unless I'm in a hurry). I go to the mall and just aimlessly walk around until something catches my interest. Just little things to keep me moving my feet. Every morning I do a quick work out to (1) wake my body up and (2) get my blood pumping. Other than that I go paintballing, lazertagging, Wii playing and drumming on Guitar Hero or Rock Band, and plying in the snow. If I had the chance I would commute to the slopes to snowboard.
I have tested this method for three years. It works. One year I lost close to twenty pounds in one holiday season. It might not work for some but it definitely works for people like me.
