Holiday Yule Loaf and Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Loaf

Looking for something extra special for dessert this holiday season? These two loaves are sure to please everyone.

Holiday Yule Loaf

3 cups flour

1/3 cup sugar

1 package active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk

½ cup butter

1 egg

½ cup raisins

½ cup candied cherries

½ cup chopped pecans

1 cup powdered sugar, sifted

5 teaspoon half and half

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine the 1 ½ cup flour, sugar, yeast, salt in bowl. Heat milk and butter in pan and add flour mixture. Add egg and mix very well.

Put raisins, cherries and pecans in bowl and mix with 1/3 cup flour. Remove yeast mixture and stir in nut mixture.

Put in large bowl and cover with towel until it rises about one hour.

Divide dough in half and roll out on remaining flour in a circle. Fold in half and press down and out on cookie sheet. Cover for about 30 minutes. Bake 20-25 minutes in preheated oven at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

While cooking, mix powdered sugar, half and half and vanilla until smooth.

Once bread is cool, coat it with mixture.

Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Loaf

3 cups flour

1 ½ teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup peanut butter, creamy

½ cup butter or margarine

½ cup sugar

½ cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 ½ cup buttermilk

2 teaspoons vanilla

1 ¼ cup mini chocolate chips

Grease two loaf pans and preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

Beat peanut butter, butter, sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy and then add eggs. Beat in buttermilk and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Mix very well. Add 1 cup chocolate chips and mix.

Cook and when you remove from oven, sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top to melt. Let cool.
