Holidays are such an important part of each countries tradition along with supporting its culture. Some of the most popular holidays on earth either revolve around the Christian belief such as Easter and Christmas however there are other popular ones such as Independence Day, New Year Day, and Valentines and so on. Then there are strange and weird holidays that really have no meaning besides the mere purpose to have an excuse to celebrate something. Have you ever wondered what is going on around the world today?

Today marks the 305th day of the year!
Here is what is going on today around the world:

1. United States:
*All Saints Day: (also known as All Hallows Day or Hallowmas): Seen as a Catholic holiday around the world, this day (originally setup in May) celebrates all the saints in the Christian church.

*Day of the Dead/Dia De Los Muertos: Originally from Latin America, this holiday marks the anniversary date to celebrate and honor the dead. It is also celebrated in Brazil, Spain and even in the Philippines.

*National Author Day: Today is a date to celebrate many of Associated Content's career paths, writing. It is a day to honor all authors for the hard work that it takes to get something published.

*National Family Literacy Day: Although this holiday is celebrated a few times a year, a few resources stated that today marks another family holiday for literacy. It is a celebration to honor and increase awareness of the importance of literacy. In my opinion, it is a wonderful day for parent/guardians to take a field trip to the library and read a few books together.

*National Men Make Dinner Day: When I saw this holiday listed in a few resources, I was thrilled! Finally, a day men are to prepare a meal for all us hard working women out there. I know what my husband will be doing tonight, hopefully.

*National Fig Day: According to Wikipedia.org, figs have been dated back to 11,400 years ago in a Northern village near ancient Jericho called Gilgal l. Figs are a wonderful source of flavonoids, antioxidants, fiber and polyphenols.

*Bra Day: According to American Greeting Cards, Mary Phelps Jacob invented the bra today in New York in 1914. Unfortunately, the bra does have a deeper history in Europe and Mary Phelps Jacob was the first one to patent the idea - so she gets the full credit. The original designer of the first bra was Herminie Cadolle in 1905.

2. Algeria:
*National Day: Today marks the nationally observed holiday of Algeria becoming a nation.

3. Virgin Islands:
*Liberty Day
*D. Hamilton Jackson Day

4. Barbuda
*Independence Day: Independence was earned from Great Britain in 1981.

5. Antigua:
*Independence Day: Independence was earned from Great Britain in 1981.

. Mexico:
*Day of the Dead/Dia De Los Muertos: Originally from Latin America, this holiday marks the anniversary date to celebrate and honor the dead. It is also celebrated in Brazil, Spain and even in the Philippines.

6. Republic of Panama:
*Children's Day: This date marks the anniversary of the National Children's Day in Panama. It is a holiday to celebrate fertility and bring forth the welfare needs of the children of the world.

7. Slovenia:
*Remembrance Day: This date commemorates the veterans and civilians that died in war.

8. Peru:
*Puno Jubilee Week: According to Insight Travel Online, "Puno celebrates its founding by the Spanish, followed by a re-enactment of the emergence of the legendary founders of the Inca Empire, Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, from the waters of Lake Titicaca. This week sees the best of Puno's folkloric festivities."

*Bullfighting Season: The famous season of bull fighting begins today.

10. India:
* Kannada Rajyotsava: (or known in English as State formation day) Kerala and Karnataka were each established as a state in 1956.

11. England:
*Vegan Day: The Vegan Society created the first vegan day to honor and celebrate veganism. There is more information on the official website for Vegan Society.

12. International:
* All Saints' Day: Seen as a Catholic holiday around the world, this day (originally setup in May) celebrates all the saints in the Christian church.

*Holy Days of Obligation: (or known as Holidays of Obligation or Feasts of Precept): Today marks the date each year that Catholics are required to start practicing the Code of Canon Law states in canon 1247 which states that everyone is obliged to participate in mass.
