Holidays, a Personal Opinion

Creative and festive songs and decoration, splendid acts of giving and heroic kindness, songs of mention, reflection and cheer, what do the holidays mean to you? Well, for a lot of people it means study and worsip, reflection and a new year approching, arrival and innapropriate greetings and salutations. The holidays are not celebrated by everyone and often I find myself sharing cheer and hopes of happiness in a manner not always welcomed. I don't mean to be rude, but it's one of the only times of the year most people seem happy to spend money and enjoy customer service and interaction with other consumers. Greed, sloth and gluttony seems to go un-noticed and this Santa Claus fellow appears to take the place of Sunday school, and many seem to be happy to accept general error and forgive their fellow human.

Please forgive my mention, but, not everyone believes in Jesus. I don't see a obese reindeer having Judaist in a sleigh bouncing down chimneys either. Mabey the candle lighting makes up for it. I don't know, but how many days to they have of dredle spinning and festivities? How come several days of Yoga isn't done instead? Speaking of question, how many swine and docile turkeys end up on dinner plates amongst god fearing, gun toting Christians? Why so many different kinds of Christians? Do they serve that and have those just because Judiasts won't eat it and use speech and writing instead? What does red have to do with new years? Why is kosher salt so different? Why do so many have an aversion to curry? Why a liquid vegetable diet intead of a solid one including meat? What does the Christmas tree have to do with Christmas? Why so much decoration? How does that affect the xung xhui of the place? Apologies for questions, ignorance, language and usage, mentally calculating. "Acceptance, I "has" that". I have acceptance, and friendship too.

Well, the theme I am creating reminds me of a family get together with the in-laws, which won't be happening this year, thankfully. Sometimes believers of different faiths can't even agree on what to call the month, let alone the day, how to ask a question, a language to speak, or what to do, give, offer or eat. Then there are those who do not believe anything and are only in it for the gifts and claim it's the only time of year to be happy about Jesus, whoever and still like Santa Claus. It's times like these I have a solution. Open a book, pray, engage in sports, recreation, silence, stay away from the situation, and be thankful, don't ask, and remain calm and peaceful, calculate, and be humored like every other day of the lunar cycle. Missing relatives is a common act of remembering for so many during the holidays, and gestures of emotion and a sentimental nature can be found everywhere, you just have to know where to look.

What do the holidays mean to me? Forgive and forget if you need too, this too shall pass. In the interum, enjoy and play nice, be peaceful, give respect, and be thankful, and it's ok to ask questions as long as you learn something.
