If you want to look 18 when you're 30, then you had better begin your anti-aging regime now. Anti-Aging is not only for old ladies as aging is a process that is carried forward since the day you went into the sun without slapping on sunblock like your mother told you to. Pity, but the situation is still salvageable.

There are many types of anti ageing skin care products, which I will elaborate on later, but for those who love natural skin care, you will be pleased to find that vitamin C and are the main ingredients in anti-aging skin care and collagen production. They are called anti-oxidants because of their very nature-they prevent your skin from being oxidized by harmful environment free radicals.

Unfortunately, vitamin C is a relatively fragile anti-oxidant and may very well be easily oxidized itself if you leave the jar open. If you use your creams consistently and generously (which you should), then you shouldn't fear that your cream will spoil before you get to the bottom of the jar. Do beware of the fact that as vitamin C is so easily oxidized, unscrupulous manufacturers sometimes try to use Vitamin C derivatives, which is not as effective or as stable as Vitamin C itself. Do check before you make the purchase.

There are other anti oxidants besides the ubiquitous vitamin C and vitamin E. There are the lipoid acids, glutathione, and many more. Nonetheless, they function the same way, and that is to reduce oxidant stress on our skins. Vitamin E is a very powerful anti oxidant that is often added to massage oils to prolong their life and also to provide a anti aging benefit.

Of course, it is more expensive than Vitamin C and it can be found in Evening Primrose Oils, leafy vegetables and legumes. Carotene helps to combat the free radicals found in the environment and lipoids help reverse damage already done to your skin. Components of Vitamin B like B2-12 are also utilized for speeding recovery of the immune system.

Photochemicals are another category of anti aging and anti inflammatory agents which are plant based. Phytonutrients refer to phytochemicals or compounds that come from plants. There are many benefits from this group of chemicals. They prevent serious illness such as cancers. Foods rich in Phytonutrients are also known as superfoods-foods that combat many diseases. Such include tomatoes, apples, cranberries, cocoa (all the more to indulge in chocolate), carrots and many more. This is why they are utilized in anti-aging skincare products-both in body lotions and oral supplements.

There has been much research done in the area of skin care products, given the demands of women and the largely competitive field. While skin care products help to delay or maybe even reverse the damage done, the best way is to avoid premature aging-that is to say, do put on your sunblock! Today's sunblock is far better than yesterday's-they aren't greasy and they do not leave a pasty white residue like they used to. Some even have tinting and anti aging properties. Check out Clinique's City Block lotion ranges, and if you are cash-strapped, you can try L'Oreal. This will help reduce sun damaging which means you will require less anti aging effort in the long run.

While you may think that anti-aging products is all you need to look youthful, look again. Anti Aging is a holistic process that combines your lifestyle, eating habits and exercise. That is to say, there is no use in smearing on plenty of anti aging creams if you aren't eating right-or worse, smoking. Put that cigarette away, drink at least 8 glasses of water, slap on sunblock and exercise-you'll look younger in no time.
