Hollywood Gossip as Seen from Across the Pond

The Scandals and Goings on in the USA from a British Point of View

Tony Payne
As usual the gossip columns in the USA are full of the usual handful of divas and their latest newsworthy events. I often wonder though, are these reports just to keep ardent fans and stalkers happy, and to sell papers, rather than to report actual news that is worth reporting.

Lindsay Lohan Leaves Jail And Heads For Rehab

According to eOnline, "Little Girl Lost" Lindsay Lohan left jail in California in the early hours of Monday morning and headed straight to a rehabilitation facility.

Lindsay has apparently booked into the Morningside Recovery center in Orange County, having served only 14 of her 90 day sentence for violating her probation.

Let's all hope that she has learned her lesson from this, but what's the betting she hasn't...

It all seems so strange to us here in the UK, since we don't have "prima donnas" here with the same desperate need to break the law and to get into the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

I don't think that anyone in the UK comes close to the Lindsay Lohan's or Britney Spears when it comes to scandalous media coverage.

Jessica Alba Is Back Home In Beverly Hills

Celebrity Gossip reports that Jessica Alba has returned to her home in Beverley Hills with her husband Cash Warren and daughter Honor Marie after a long stay in Paris.

So what makes this news? Aside from the fact that Jessica Alba is a world class beauty and has a husband whose name would be perfect for a character out of one of the American Soap Operas, they just came home from holiday!

I work with someone called Penny Fordeguy, and when they came home from a two week holiday in Majorca, how come they didn't get the same treatment? Do people really care if someone is on holiday or back home, whether they are a celebrity or not?

Good News For Britney Spears Fans

Hollywood Gossip reports that

Britney Spears's producer, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins (now there's a good name for you to associate with someone like Britney Spears), has said that "Britney fans are gonna be happy in a few weeks".

He didn't let on what this meant, but he has been doing some writing for her, as well as for Beyonce, so should Britney's fans expect some new recordings from her soon I wonder.

It has been two years now since Britney Spears released her comeback album, which she promoted with a world tour, and her die hard fans have been waiting a long time for something new from their pop goddess.

And for the guys reading this, the article on Hollywood Gossip has a good picture of Britney Spears doing something she is good at - forgetting to put her bra on.

Now I didn't say this, but Hollywood Gossip did... To quote them: "Is new Britney Spears music finally upon us? Or is her producer just referring to more images like the one in the article".

Now here we have an article, which is based on mere speculation that Britney Spears MAY be releasing a new album, but using a new picture of going without a bra as an excuse to report something about her.

I wonder if the media have a schedule where certain celebrities have to be reported on every so often, whether they have been doing anything newsworthy or not.

Some celebrities, however, give the media plenty to report about, which is usually good for the press, but not so good for the reputation of themselves.

Actually the tabloids are filled with juicy headlines for us so we can have something to read when we're waiting in line at checkout in the grocery store. It's very important to us. Haha.
