Hollywood Stars in Oklahoma

Although the name and story of the film are still unknown, it is confirmed that director Terrence Malick is filming his latest movie in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Ben Affleck, who is the star and director of the new film, "The Town," has been spotted dining and shopping at numerous local establishments along with his wife Jennifer Garner, and their children. According to the Tulsa World, The pair were spotted in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, in August at the Bass Pro Shop. Affleck was reportedly shopping for fishing equipment to practice for his upcoming film. At that time, the Oklahoma Film & Music Office stated that no movie was being shot in the area but hoped filming would start for one in Oklahoma in the fall.

Filming has started this October in Bartlesville, located 40 miles north of Tulsa. The film crew has rented The Phillips Hotel, located downtown, for lodging. Their vans, SUVs, and large trucks indicate that something out the ordinary is going on in the area. If that wasn't enough, large trucks and police have blocked off sections of the downtown area all week for filming. Reports say that they have filmed near Lot-A-Burger, Angelo's Tavern, Two Sister's Pub, and in multiple residential neighborhoods. Affleck and his family have been seen frequently walking around the downtown area in their free time and are reportedly quite friendly.

Casting calls in Tulsa and Bartlesville have earned many locals the exciting experience of being in a film. Local people have even been selected off the street and asked to audition for parts! Several residents were contacted in August by the Bartlesville Convention and Visitors Bureau looking for homeowners interested in their houses being used in the film. Several owners of downtown property, along with city officials, met with film staff and Affleck to talk about potential filming locations and to offer assistance to the production.

The film also stars Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams. Sightings of them have not been as widely reported. Perhaps they have not yet been required to shoot in town, or perhaps the locals just don't recognize them as easily.
Malick, who grew up in Bartlesville, is best known for directing "The Thin Red Line" and "The New World."
