Hollywood's Next Big Thing - TV Show Remake Movies

L. Vincent Poupard
Over the next few years, we will be exposed to many new movies that will be based off of old Television shows. These movies will try to cash in on the cult popularity of these old shows.

While there are going to be many of these movies, there are certain ones that are more likely to be successful then others. These are the ones that I am looking forward to the most.

Six Million Dollar Man

The fan base for the old Lee Majors show has been buzzing since the original announcement for this movie. There is very little information that has been released so far for The Six Million Dollar Man, but it does still raise a lot of interest. It is not known if there is going to be a change in the title since $6 million does not buy much anymore these days in the filed of bionics.

The A-Team

Slated for a release in 2008, The A-Team is being expected to be a major blockbuster. 20th Century Fox is going to be putting a lot of money behind the movie that is based off of one of the most popular shows from the 1980's. To this point, there has not been any announcement as to who would be playing the major characters.

Chips

Wilmer Valderrama will be playing the part of Ponch in the 2009 major release of the show that made the California Hiway Patrol so famous. Wilmer will be reprising the role that he had in a skit on That 70s Show.

Dallas

The classic prime time soap is going to star John Travolta as J.R. The release date has been pushed around, but it expected to come out either at the end of this year, or early next year.

Get Smart

Steve Carell will be starring in the movie release of Get Smart. The current date for release is June 20th of 2008. It is expected to be as hilarious as all of Steve Carell's other movies.

The Greatest American Hero

While there is not very much that has been officially been announced about the cast, or script, the Internet has been buzzing with who may portray the main characters. There has also been speculation about the possibility of sequels.

Knight Rider

Knight Rider is being talked about for a 2008 major theatrical release. There are many fans, though, that will wonder how anyone can play Michael Knight other then the Hoff.

Kung Fu

Another movie that fans are wondering how Hollywood is going to be able to place someone in the main character role of Kung Fu other then David Carradine. This classic show has spanned a spin off that was successful on Cable.

Wonder Woman

One of the most bantered around movies on the Internet over the last few years has been Wonder Woman. Hundreds of stars have been linked to this movie, but so far there has been nothing that has been set in stone.

GI Joe

Following the Transformers, the live action GI Joe movie could be one of the most nostalgic movies for people of my generation. There has not been anyone officially linked to this movie, but many middle-aged men are foaming at the mouth in anticipation

While there are many classic shows that are going to be made into movies in the next few years, there are going to be many that are going to flop. These movies are gaining the largest amount of buzz on the Internet, and this could translate into large box office business.
