Hollywood's Top 10 Sexiest Men Over the Age of 50

Now that I'm officially over 50, I can say with a certainty that aging does not render one blind or less interested in looking at handsome men.

Unfortunately, the youth obsessed Hollywood culture hasn't quite caught on to this just yet and seems insistent on perpetuating the notion that only 20-something year old Justin Timberlake is qualified to bring sexy back.

I couldn't disagree more and to prove my point have compiled a list of the top 10 sexiest Hollywood men over the age of 50 who are still very easy on the eyes.

Some of these sexy over 50 babes have mellowed with age, while others have continued to be the bad boys they've always been (thank you, God). But, they have all taken on that distinguished and well, just plain manly appeal that only aging, gray hair and a few good years under the belt can bring.

It was hard to narrow the list down to only 10 and some of my choices may surprise you. But then, again, you may also agree with me that the years have not only been kind, but they have also improved upon these over 50 super-sexy Hollywood honeys.

Kevin Costner

I mean, seriously. Does it get any better than Kevin Costner? I think not. Kevin's early years were characterized by a boyish charm and his Jimmy Stewart aw-shucks- good-looks. Now, at age 55, Kevin is the father of seven and continues to cut a striking and oh so handsome 6'1"presence wherever he shows up.

Maybe having a younger wife and so many young children to keep up with keeps this middle age hottie looking drop dead gorgeous. Or maybe it's just those grown-up boy lines on his face and how doggone good he looks in a cowboy hat. I also hear that he Dances with Wolves. Talk about animal magnetism. I am woman, hear me howl.

William Hurt

Here's the thing about William Hurt. It's not so much about the physical package. It's about the quiet confidence. It's about those piercing blue eyes behind the intellectual glasses. It's about the intense, chained-up passion that smolders just below the surface. Dare I call it, Body Heat?

I know it's just Hollywood, but when a guy smashes a window with a lawn chair just so he can take you? Well, if that's not the stuff a woman's dreams of passion are made of, I don't know what is.

And to think that William Hurt was only 31 years old when he made the sexy, 1981, neo-noir film, Body Heat. Now, at 60 years of age, with a quiet sensuality that has simmered on low burn all these years, William Hurt is just smoking hot.

Viggo Mortensen

Most people know Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn from Lord of the Rings. I hear he's great in the film, though I wouldn't know because I'm not a fan of Lord of the Rings. But, I am a fan of Viggo Mortensen and absolutely certain that if looks alone could make one a superstar, he's Oscar quality.

Offscreen, Viggo Mortensen is a typical artist. Quiet, quirky and some might say, just a little bit broody. Viggo doesn't "do Hollywood" in the sense that you won't read about him hanging out in the latest Hollywood nightclub and he rarely does the red carpet or after parties.

But, listen, Viggo, that's A-Okay by me. Because, when you look like this? You can do any damn thing you want. The seriously sexy, Viggo Mortensen will be 52 this year and lord-o-the-rings he's holding up well!

Ed Harris

Ed Harris is not your classic sex symbol type, I know. He's not tall and he's not dark. In fact, he's rather short at 5'9. And he's bald. And he's married. But, if ever the gods have infused a man with true grit, a steamy, sexy masculinity and some serious handsome, it's 58 year old Ed Harris. Not sure who Ed Harris is? On top of being a middle-aged knock-out, Ed Harris is by far one of Hollywood's most enduring actors, with a filmography that's as impressive as his perfectly chiseled face. There's really not much more you can say about Ed Harris except - call me.

Al Pacino

Al Pacino is another one of those, "not your typical sex symbol" types. Though he is dark and handsome, at 5'7, he is not tall. And yet, who wouldn't say that Al Pacino sizzled with some serious sex appeal with Ellen Barkin in Sea of Love?

In the 1992 film, Scent of a Woman, Al Pacino demonstrated that you didn't even need eyes to appreciate a woman. You just need some great dance moves and a little extra-sensual perception. Listen, with that kind of sensitivity, who cares if he's only 5'7? He's The Godfather of sex appeal if you ask me.

Mel Gibson

Yeah, I know. He drinks too much. He smokes too much. He's a philanderer. He has a short fuse and he calls reporters names. He's also not getting along with his baby mama these days and he's gotten rather craggy and testy in his old age ( 54, to be exact) too. But, then, there's Braveheart. Enough said.

Jeff Bridges

At 61 years of age, Jeff Bridges, is technically an over 60, super sexy guy. But, given that he's also had one of the best onscreen kisses with actress, Rachel Ward, in the 1984 film, Against All Odds, in cinematic history, well, holy cow, he makes the list.

Even as an out of shape, washed-up, weathered and worn out country singer in Crazy Heart, (An Oscar winning performance he wholly deserved by the way)Jeff Bridges oozed sex appeal.

Not to mention, it's hard not to fall in love with a guy who just wants to be with his wife and children more than anything in the world. Jeff and Susie Bridges have been married for 33 years at last count and have three daughters. Look, anyway you want to cut it, sexy, Jeff Bridges is just a chick magnet in every way.

Mickey Rourke

At 57 years old, Mickey Rourke is experiencing a much deserved career come-back. One of Hollywood's original bad-boys (with a capital "B"), Mickey Rourke has lost the rascally good looks he was famous for in his early films like, Diner,9 ½ Weeks and Wild Orchid, when he acted with his then wife, the very lovely, Carre' Otis.

One too many punches in the head, I guess, when he left acting to pursue a boxing career and one too many plastic surgeries have made the once devilishly handsome, Mickey Rourke, just a wee bit odd looking. But, lucky for Mickey, it wasn't just his good looks that made him so attractive. It was and still is the edgy masculinity he exudes with more than a hint of danger.

Mickey Rourke is the quintessential bad boy who will "steal your diamonds, but, he'll bring you back some gold", and well, what can I say - women love it.

Denzel Washington

No list of sexy Hollywood men over the age of 50 would be complete without the uber sexy, Denzel Washington on it. He too has had a long and illustrious Hollywood career: Training Day,American Gangster,Malcolm X and The Pelican Brief, just to name a few.

But one of my favorite Denzel Washington films was the 1995 Devil in a Blue Dress, where Denzel plays Ezekiel "Easy" Rawlins, a detective so smooth and so handsome he made me want to break the law on the off chance I might get frisked.

But then, Denzel Washington is a happy family man too with 27 loyal years of wedded bliss and 4 children with his lovely wife, Pauletta Pearson.

But, we can sure thank Pauletta for sharing her extraordinarily handsome husband with the rest of us and well, a girl can dream, can't she?

Josh Brolin

I know what you're thinking..... "Hey! Wait a minute! Josh Brolin is not over 50!"...... and you would be right. At 42, he's barely past 40. Except, what you might not know is that Josh Brolin, is incredibly hot and sexy. He's also an excellent actor. If you haven't seen No Country for Old Men, you must. Then I'm certain you'll agree with me - so what if he's only 42? Close enough.
