Holmes Products HAP223-UC Air Purifier Review

I bought a Holmes Products HAP223-UC Air purifier back in December,2008. The cost was $49.99, and it was purchased at Shop Rite. Holmes Products makes a wide variety of Air Purifiers, this is one of the smaller models designed for a small room. It is currently placed in my kitchen, after trying various different rooms, the kitchen seemed like the best place for it. The kitchen obviously has a lot of cooking done it in. The other resident in my house likes to smoke a lot in the kitchen, and the kitchen seems like the place where the air needs to be cleanest the most. I tried to put it in my bedroom and living room but woke up with bloody noses every morning from the air being too dry.

First of all, this air purifier does nothing to improve the quality of the air in my home. It is noisy as well, especially on its highest setting. It has three settings, high, medium and low. In addition to this, it also has an energy saving setting as well. It does not seem to purify tobacco smoke or any other type of harmful stuff out of the air. It just seems like a noisy unit that takes up space. It is not that big, only about the size of a toaster, but in a kitchen any amount of space is valuable.

Second of all, this thing cost way too much for what it does. I can't believe I payed $49.99 for this thing when it hardly does anything. Perhaps I should have went with a larger unit, but my kitchen isn't that big of a room to begin with. If anything this air purifier makes the air in the house worse because it takes all the humidity out of the air making the air extremely dry and unpleasant. It does absolutely nothing for smells and it doesn't feel like the air is any cleaner on my lungs. Am I missing something here or does anybody else out there agree with me that this thing is not worth the money?

In conclusion The Holmes Products HAP 223-UC Air Purifier is a small unit that you can place in a room in your house to purify the air. It cost $49.99 and takes up about as much space as a toaster. It has the three settings, high,low and medium, as mentioned before and is rather noisy and does not do much to clean the air in my home. I would recommend going for a different brand or a bigger air purifier in this case, as this one doesn't seem to clean the air and actually makes the air really dry in my home.
