Home Décor Craft Ideas: Pink Floral Bathroom Cabinets

Landra Lynn Jacobs
If you are looking for a truly wild and unique bathroom cabinet idea, look no further than these brightly colored pink floral bathroom cabinets! Due to the size and nature of this project, it should take just under a weekend to complete.

For this project, you will need:

- One wood bathroom cabinet

- Medium grit sandpaper

- Tack cloth or other soft cloth

- Screwdriver

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Watermelon

- Polyurethane sealant

- Several sheets of Amy Butler "Pink Acanthus" Print Scrapbook Paper (available in stores or online at Paper Addict)

- Scissors

- Ruler

- Sponge brush

- Mod Podge or other decoupage medium

- Popsicle stick

- Damp paper towel

- Brown paper bag

- Masking tape

- Newspaper or drop cloth

Whenever you are working on a project that involves spray paints and glues, always cover your work area well with newspaper or a drop cloth. Make sure your cabinet is free of any previous paints or stains. (If it is not, use a bit of paint stripper prior to beginning.)

Dissemble the brown paper bag with scissors. Use the bag to cover and protect the countertops on your bathroom cabinet using masking tape to hold it in place. Remove any and all hardware from the cabinet using a screwdriver.

Gently sand the base of the cabinet with medium grit sandpaper. Wipe away any excess dust with a tack cloth or other soft cloth. Spray the entire cabinet with three to four coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Allow the cabinet to dry for one to two hours. Apply three to four thick coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Watermelon. Let the paint dry overnight. Repeat this process using the cabinet door face.

Using the ruler and a pair of scissors, cut the Amy Butler "Pink Acanthus" Print Scrapbook Paper into three inch wide sections. Apply a generous amount of Mod Podge or other decoupage medium to the paper. Add an additional amount of decoupage glue to the painted cabinet itself. Adhere the paper to the cabinet in vertical strips, leaving a three inch gap between strips. Smooth away any bubbles from the paper using your fingers or a popsicle stick. Wipe away any excess glue with a damp paper towel. Do the same process to the cabinet door face, and allow the project to dry overnight.

Spray the entire cabinet and door face with seven to eight coats of polyurethane sealant. Allow the cabinet to dry overnight before removing the brown paper bag, reinstalling all hardware or doors, and using.
