Home Decor Crafts: Copper & Cream Monogram Accent Table

Landra Lynn Jacobs
The sophisticated look of copper and cream paired together adds a fantastic appeal in this accent table project. Create one or two of these copper and cream monogram accent tables to spice up your bedroom or living room space.

For this project, you will need (per accent table):

- One small unfinished wooden accent table
- Several sheets of medium and/or fine grit sandpaper
- Tack cloth or other similar style soft cloth
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Dover White
- Krylon Premium Metallic Paint in Copper Foil
- Krylon Spray Polyurethane Sealant in Clear Gloss
- Six inch tall monogram stencil
- Pencil
- Cardstock
- Craft knife
- Self healing mat
- Masking tape
- Newsprint and/or a large sized drop cloth

It is highly advised that the area in which you will be crafting this accent table be well ventilated due to paints and sprays used in the course of completion. Also, make sure the area is covered with either several sheets of old newsprint or a large sized drop cloth. Carefully sand down the surface of the wooden accent table with sheets of medium or fine grit sandpaper. Smooth away any rough edges or spots. Wipe down the table with a tack cloth or other type of soft cloth.

Prime the unfinished wooden accent table using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Wait for the primer to dry for thirty minutes before continuing. Paint the table with four to five thick spray coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Dover White. Let the table finish drying for a few hours.

Place the sheet of cardstock securely flat on the self healing mat. Using a six inch tall monogram stencil in a font of your choice, pencil the design onto the paper. Carefully cut out the monogram from the cardstock using a craft knife. Discard the letter cutout and keep the remaining paper piece.

Adhere the cardstock piece to the center of the white painted accent table with masking tape. Make sure the paper can absolutely not move around. Cover and remaining areas on the table with old newspaper and more masking tape.

Spray the exposed monogram area with a thick coat of Krylon Premium Metallic Paint in Copper Foil. Dry for ten minutes before adding a second coat of copper paint. Let the table dry completely.

Remove all paper and tape from the table. Spray the entire project with a layer of Krylon Spray Polyurethane Sealant in Clear Gloss. Allow the table to dry overnight before enjoying your new table.

TIP: A pair of these accent tables would make a fun addition on either side of a guest room bed.
