For this project, you will need (per accent table):
- One small unfinished wooden table (available at craft supply and home improvement stores)
- Medium or fine grit sandpaper
- Tack cloth or other similar style soft cloth
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Emerald Green
- Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Finishing Spray
- Black and white damask print scrapbook paper (available at scrapbook supply shops or online)
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Craft knife
- Self healing mat
- Masking tape
- Mod Podge or other type of decoupage medium
- Sponge brush
- Newspaper and/or a large drop cloth
Use a few sheets of old newsprint and/or a rather large drop cloth to cover the space you will be completing your accent table project. Gently sand all areas of the unfinished wooden accent table using a couple sheets of medium or fine grit sandpaper. With a soft cloth or tack cloth, wipe down the top and legs of the accent table to remove any dust or grit.
Prime the entire outside and underside of the accent table using two or more coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Let the piece dry for an hour or longer. Paint the table with five to seven even coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Emerald Green. Keep adding coats of green paint until you reach a desired hue for your project. Allow the table to dry overnight before proceeding.
Place a few sheets of damask print scrapbook paper flat on the self healing mat. Determine how much paper will be needed to cover the top of the accent table. Remove one half inch on each side from the measurement. Mark out this measurement onto the back of the damask print scrapbook paper. Carefully cut out the design with a craft knife.
Place a half inch piece of masking tape around the table top to protect the border we will be creating. Apply a fair amount of Mod Podge or other type of decoupage medium to the back of the damask paper piece using a sponge brush. Adhere the black and white damask paper to the center of the table so that the edges meet the masking tape, but do not overlap it. Let the glue dry fully.
Remove the masking tape to reveal a half inch green border around the damask print. Spray the table top with ten or more coats of Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Finishing Spray. Allow the accent table to dry overnight before using it.
