Home Decor Crafts: Silver & Black Circles Apothecary Jars

Unique and dazzling apothecary jars have a wide variety of uses. From fabulous centerpieces to gorgeous mantle displays, these decorative charms are a great way to spruce up a room. Create this silver and black circles apothecary jar project for a touch of sophistication!

For this project, you will need:

- One clear glass apothecary jar with removable lid (any size)
- Mild dish detergent
- Water
- Paper towels
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Gloss Black
- Krylon Leafing Pen in Silver
- Cardstock
- Several different sized circle shaped stencils
- Craft knife
- Self healing mat
- Masking tape
- Newspaper sheets and/or a large drop cloth

Begin this apothecary jar crafting project by first covering your work area with several sheets of old newspapers and/or a large drop cloth. Carefully remove the lid from the apothecary jar. Wash both the lid and the main portion of the jar using a mild dish detergent. Rinse the jar well using warm water. Dry the outside of the glass using paper towels. Turn the jar upside down. Allow both the jar and the outside of the lid to finish air drying for a couple hours.

Prime the outside of the jar and outside of the lid using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Let the primed glass set for about an hour. Paint the outside of the jar and the lid using a few coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Gloss Black. Allow the paint to set for a half an hour between coats. Dry for several hours.

Place a sheet of cardstock in any color or print on the self healing mat. In pencil, trace several different circle shapes onto the cardstock from stencils. Carefully cut out the circles using a craft knife. Discard the circle cutouts, but keep the remaining cardstock. Adhere the paper to the side of the black painted apothecary jar using masking tape. Place the circles in a random fashion, arranging them as desired.

Fill in the exposed circle areas using a Krylon Leafing Pen in Silver. Let the silver paint dry for about an hour before going over it a second time using the metallic pen. Let the paint dry overnight.

Remove the paper and tape from the outside of the apothecary jar. Secure the lid back in place. Enjoy your new decorative creation.

TIP: This project looks just as good when a Krylon Leafing Pen in 14K Gold is used in lieu of silver.
