Guide to Rental Decorating.

Decorating apartments and rental homes is filled many different types of rules and restrictions. These challenges can be overcome, with a bit of thought and design strategy. There is a way to decorate around your landlord's rules. Create the home that you want now. Here are 3 tips to help you decorate your rental home.

Rules

Thoroughly review your lease. Make sure that you understand exactly what the decorating restrictions are. The rules may state that painting is okay, if the color palette is approved first. It may state that you can do whatever non structural improvements that you would like, providing that you paint everything back white when you leave the property. If you are unsure about what the contract states ask the landlord or rental company.

Plan

After you are very clear about what changes you can make, make plans. Completely plan your design with the purpose of creating a design that is transportable. Do not spend a lot of time and money making structural improvements in a rental home. Only invest in structural improvements if the landlord is reimbursing you for any changes that you make.

Decorating Ideas

If you are having a hard time coming up with a design plan, look for inspiration online. List all of the things you would like to see and have around you. Plan to be in complete comfort after coming home from a hard day. Aim to create a retreat from your work responsibilities, and other commitments outside of your home. Think of comfortable homes you have visited. Hotels you have visited. You may have a friend with a very inviting home, think about how you can create your own inviting space.

Alternatives

If painting is not allowed, consider other wall applications such large stick on decorations for children's rooms. Fabric can be placed on the wall without damaging the paint. Rugs can cover up ugly tile, and even a previous questionable color of carpet. Updating your furniture and using modern colors can help. Modern patterns in throw pillows, curtains, and rugs can draw your eyes away from things that you can not change.

Taking the time to see what you can do is invaluable. Creating an environment that you love while you live in your home is important. Your living environment is very important. Do not wait until you own your own home to make these personalized changes. Use these tips to create a beautiful home to entertain and share with others.
