The Punk Goth generally has a "whatever works" view toward their home décor, using hand-me-downs from family and friends and quickly assembled cheap shelves. There might be posters on the walls and band equipment stored in corners. The appearance is utilitarian and simple.
Colors could be a mish-mash collection; although red, black, and white are common. Neon bright shades are also possibilities. Fabric choices include leather, fishnet, animal prints, fake fur, plaids, and camouflage.
Furniture would be simple, with no particular style. Whatever you have already will be just fine. Large throws could be spread over old sofas, and quick paint jobs would cover mismatched tables. With some sturdy metal shelves a Punk Goth decorating scheme is practically complete.
Now that we have an idea of what we are trying to achieve, the next question is where to find what we need?
For the fabrics, your local fabric store probably has everything you need. But for the online shoppers here are some resources.
http://www.denverfabrics.com - This site has a surprising variety of colored fishnet and novelty stretch mesh fabric, as well as faux fur.
http://www.syfabrics.com - This site offers faux fur, animal prints, and leather.
For furniture, thrift stores and garage/yard sales are the places to look. Discount stores like Target always have basic shelves in stock. And you can also check this online source for cheap items.
http://www.craigslist.org - An online classifieds community; look at the free section for furniture people just want to get rid of quickly.
While the DIY punk craft is gaining popularity, it doesn't necessarily extend to home décor projects yet. Still, there are some projects that might be of interest.
http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/ln_upholstery/article/0,2041,DIY_14056_2271218,00.html - Instructions for making a no-sew slipcover.
http://www.krylon.com/main/inspiration_template.cfm?levelid=3&sub_levelid=22&inspirationid=5&content=inspiration_details - Instructions for painting a leopard animal print on various items. The colors could be changed to wild fuchsia or lime green rather than the standard brown.
Though the Punk Goth may always seem to have better things to do with their time and money than splurge on home décor, not much effort or expense is really necessary to modify your current furnishings to reflect your real style.
