Most fathers still have keys of some kind they need to carry around one time or another. This makes a key chain a sensible gift for a child to make. There are many different types of key chains and skill levels for all ages.

~ Pop-tob-tab key chain
If someone can make a prom dress out of pop tabs, these key chain is obviously a doable task. This key chain can be quite easily with 2 boot laces, several pop-top-tabs, key ring and pony beads.

Take the boot laces and tie them to the key ring with a square knot. You have two separate strings to weave through the pop-tab-tops. The tabs will have one end with a small circle inside and the other end with a large circle. Turn one tab up side down and link it the next one so the small tabs are holding each other and the bigger openings are on each end.

Take on boot lace up through the big hole and down through the next. With the other boot lace go down through the big home and up through the next. There is one lace on top and the under on bottom. Join the next two in the same manner. When the chain is as long as desired, tie the laces in a square knot. Add beads to each side and tie off.

~ Shower curtain ring key chain
Supplies:
*wire shower curtain ring that snaps open and closed
*three lengths of narrow colored ribbon
*key ring
*scissors
*tacky glue

Secure the three ribbons together with a knot. Braid them and knot the end. Open the shower curtain ring and weave it through the braid. Make sure the shower curtain ring can still open and close to hook to belt loops or back packs. Tie off the braid as needed and use a dab of tacky glue to secure the ends. Open the key ring and thread it in place on the braid.

~ Bottle cap key chain
Take a bottle cap and clean it with rubbing alcohol. This will kill germs and dry quickly.

Wrap the bottle cap in a towel and tap with a mallet. The cap should flatten slightly.

Take a pencil, use the bottle cap as the template and draw the circle. Cut out the picture so it is just smaller than the cap. It does not matter if it is a picture of the child, a drawing or even a cut out from a magazine. Whatever the child wishes will work. Glue the picture into place on the inside of the cap. Use laminating paper to cover and protect the picture.

Take a nail and tap out a hole. Use a jump ring to connect to a key ring.

These are three very easy key rings that would make an excellent gift on Father's Day.
