Do not use bay leaf tea during pregnancy because it can bring on menstruation.
Ginger is also an expectorant that can help treat bronchitis when used as a tea. Take a ½ teaspoon of ginger, a pinch of ground cloves, and a pinch of cinnamon and steep in a cup of boiling water to make a tea.

Take a tablespoon of dry mustard and mix it with four tablespoons of flour. Mix in enough water to make a runny paste. Take vegetable shortening or olive oil and rub in on your chest. Spread the mustard mix on a cloth and cover it with another piece of cloth. Apply this to the chest and keep in place until it is cool. Check every few minutes to make sure it is not burning the skin. Remove this plaster if it causes burning or discomfort.
To use savory as a home remedy for bronchitis, make it into a tea by adding a ½ teaspoon to a cup of boiling water and drink it once a day. This potent herb helps by getting rid of mucus from the lungs.
To use thyme as a home remedy, use it dried as a seasoning or make it into a tea. To make it into a tea, add a ¼ to a ½ teaspoon to a cup of boiling water. Thyme is very strong so you do not need that much. Steep it for five minutes and sweeten with honey.
If you have thyme oil, you can also rub it on your chest as a decongestant. Thyme helps get rid of mucus, strengthens the lungs to fight infection, and prevents bacteria.
