Dehydration is something we all should be aware during the summer months. Dehydration is when there is a sudden loss of fluids from the body. Their are several signs that show your body is suffering from dehydration. Some symptoms to be looking for are intense thirst, white or dry tongue, wrinkled skin, sunken eyeballs, hollow checks and labored breathing.

Due to the lack of fluids, the body tries to regulate itself and your blood pressure will rise. Dehydration is dangerous and these symptoms should be checked immediately. Dehydration is the leading cause of childhood death around the world.

There are people all over the world who use home remedies to combat dehydration. Home remedies exist in every culture and have been passed down throughout the generations. Here are a few home remedies that you can use to prevent and treat dehydration.

We all have heard this one and it does have its benefits: Drink more water. This is a proven home remedy but some home remedies take a different spin and items are added to prevent dehydration. Some suggest that you should add pudin hara to a half cup of water and drink this mixture 3 to 4 times to fight dehydration.

Another home remedy that has been called the best for fighting dehydration is this recipe. Take one cup of buttermilk and add 1/2 teaspoon of dry ginger. Drink this mixture 3 to 4 times a day. You can find dry ginger in any health food store. It can be listed under the name "saunth powder."

Another concoction that is said to be "one of the best dehydration remedy" is an unusual mixture of ingredients. It claims you should take 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds, 1 teaspoon of edible gum, 1 teaspoon of cardammon powder, 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg powder, and 2 teaspoons of sugar. Grind these ingredients into a fine powder and take it every 2 hours.

Yet another home remedy that claims to help with dehydration is a simple mixture. It asks you to grate one raw papaya. Next add this to 3 cups of water. Boil this mixture for 10 minutes and strain. It is recommended that you drink this mixture for one day.

One of the strangest home remedies that can be found on the Internet is a suggestion. It is suggested that one should rub ginger juice around the navel of a child suffering from dehydration. Also, if you are suffering from dehydration, you should eat the inside of a pomegranate mixed with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

As with any home remedy, you should research them before applying them to your medical needs. Talk to your physician and see what they have to say about using home remedies for any ailment you may have. I have not used any of these home remedies and advise everyone to research them before use.
