Olive Oil - I have discussed this before so I will only touch on it briefly. This is like a hot oil treatment from a salon. Heat the oil in a microwave for 45 seconds. And then slowly apply to your head using a rag or a cotton ball. Leave on your hair at least 30 minutes if not a few hours than wash. This will help with shine and giving some added moisture to your hair. You can also mix a half a cup of honey into the olive oil and this will actually help lighten the hair without drying it out.
Mayonnaise - This one is a smelly option however you can run this through your hair for added moisture and it will make your hair very shiny and soft.
Beer - If you ever have a beer left in your fridge use it on your hair. Take the beer into the shower with you and pour it all over your hair, let it sit for five minutes than wash like normal. This works like a cleanser and with clean all the buildup that you get from styling products. This also creates shine.
Tomatoes - Due to the acid in tomatoes they will also help clean up buildup like expensive tea tree shampoos. It also creates wonderful shine. Always good to use fresh tomatoes not canned. Just blend and let sit in your hair for 15 - 30 minutes. However due to the acid just like lemons it can tend to lighten your hair as well. Chamomile tea also works in the same manner, just brew and pour over your hair.
Bananas and Avocados - These are great for split ends. If you have avocadoes that have not been eaten or bananas that are brown mush the up and rub them on your split ends or all over your hair. Both of these fruits have natural fats that are great for dry or over stylized hair.
Always remember that over brushing can actually break hair and make it dry. When shampooing don't forget to massage your own scalp this releases the natural oils in your head which works its way down your hair. Also when conditioning hair star at the tips and move up, the scalp needs less moisture not more.
You do not have to go to a store to purchase expensive treatments for your hair just use the common items you find in your fridge or cupboards and you will be surprised how silky and soft your hair can be.
