The first thing to do is to find out what is causing your dry scalp. Are you under a lot of stress? A major culprit of a dry scalp is stress. Who does not deal with stress at least once in a while? It can be trying to pay those bills on time or trying to do fifty hours of work in a twenty-four hour day. Find ways to help you relax. This can be accomplished by doing ten minutes of yoga a day, by listening to the rain as it hits your roof or by taking a relaxing bath.
What you eat has a direct impact of the condition of your scalp. Eat foods that have omege-3 fatty acids. These can be found in tuna fish, broccoli and strawberries. If you want, you can take supplements that contain these acids.
One of the conditions of a dry scalp is bits of the skin that flake off. This is known as dandruff. While this condition is not life-threatening it is embarrassing and unsightly, since these flakes of skin stay in your hair and are visible to the naked eye. When people see dandruff, they judge you and accuse you of having something worse-head lice.
To get the dandruff out of your hair, mix apple cider vinegar with warm water. Rub it into your hair and leave on for ten minutes. Rinse it out with warm water and a shampoo that is designed for dry hair. Most of the dandruff will be gone.
Once you have removed the dandruff, prevent other outbreaks by keeping your scalp moisturized. Massage three drops of olive oil on your scalp every three days. Make sure you massage your entire scalp. This will help prevent future dandruff outbreaks.
