Home Remedies for Gas Pains

Everybody experiences gastrointestinal issues from time to time. When you have gas in your stomach, you can experience stomach pain, cramping or a pressure in your stomach. You may also find your self belching often or passing gas in a more stinky way. Although this is not a serious health condition, it can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. It is inevitable that gas problems always occur at the worst time possible. For example, you may be delivering a presentation or you are in a crowded elevator. Do not despair, there are many home remedies that will help minimize gas issues such as flatulence and stomach pain.

Two main culprits of gas are undigested food and stress. Taking a walk speeds up the digestion problem and helps relax the mind at the same time.

Before you start eating, take one to two charcoal tablets. These pills, which can be purchased at a health food store, prevent gas before you sit down to your favorite meal. This has a detoxifier that prevents gas from forming. Beano, which you can find in a grocery or drug store, has enzymes that prevent gas.

Do not use straws when you are drinking beverages. You are swallowing extra air when you use them. This creates more gas than just normally drinking from a cup.

If you like beans, soak them overnight in water. When you cook them the next day, use fresh water. Soaking them helps remove many of the gas producing properties. If you cook them with the same water you soaked them in, you will be reintroducing these properties back into your system. That is why it is necessary to use fresh water to cook them in.

Everybody enjoys having dessert. You are not human if you do not like sweets. However, look for foods that contain pumpkin, lemon, cinnamon and peppermint. They have stomach friendly properties that help combat gas pain.

Fennel helps prevent gas. You can make a tea out of this or chew on the seeds.

Ginger plays a major role in cleaning the intestines of trapped air. This also can be put in a tea and added to your food. Health food stores sell this in a pill form.

Turmeric has been used for many years as a Chinese medicine to help digestive problems. You can purchase this from a health food store in powder or pill form.

Allow plenty of time for you to eat. You will experience gas more often when you eat a meal quickly. It is better to chew your food slowly and drink enough water during your meal.

The way you breathe has an effect on the amount of gas buildup in your intestines. Try this deep breathing exercise the next time you feel that gas pain coming: Breath in deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth. This way you are not swallowing extra air by breathing in through your mouth.

Gas pain can be uncomfortable. However, do not let it rule your life. By eating right and using the home remedies, you will find that gassy feeling will be minimized.
