One of the most common problems that people today face is the increasing flab in their body. Today there are a host of both medical and non-medical solutions available to fight flab. Exercise is the most common form of non-medical solutions that is available today to fight flab. However, given the modern lifestyle, working late and other demands of modern life people find it increasingly daunting to keep up exercising with the hard schedule.

In the UK, the Medical News Today reported that there were almost 2 million overweight children out of which 700,000 were obese.

The Guardian (UK) recently (February 16, 2010) reported that eight out of 10 men and almost seven in 10 women will be overweight or obese by 2020, this according to a study published by an Oxford University Professor. The study suggested that there were no signs of obesity decreasing among adults. The report also mentions that incidence of associated illnesses - such as heart disease is expected to rise in the coming years. The report predicts that by "2050, there will be a 23% rise in the prevalence of obesity-related stroke, a 34% rise in obesity-related high blood pressure, a 44% rise in obesity-related coronary heart disease and a 98% rise in obesity-related diabetes".

Take care of what you eat: Be careful to avoid red meat as it contains a high amount of fat. One must also avoid food that is oily and spicy. Too much of salt in food can also be detrimental for a healthy life. On the other hand include food grains in large quantity, such as wheat, barley, sorghum and maize. Fresh and green vegetables would also help you do the trick. Eat as much as you can of these. Green salads, sprouts, fibrous vegetables particularly tomatoes and mint leaves will all help you to burn fat.

Mind what you drink: Keep your eyes open to what you pick up to drink. Ideally drink plenty of water which will help your body organs to function properly helping you towards fat control. Avoid excessive drinking of liquor and other aerated drinks which can lead to dysfunction of body systems. Drinking cabbage juice or even bottle gourd juice can be extremely beneficial in controlling obesity. Intake of fruits like carrot, papaya can also be very helpful for you to lead a healthy life.
