Sore throats suck. Now that we've gotten that out of our systems, it's time to act like proper adults. When I have a sore throat I feel as if I've swallowed a million prickly cat hairs, and I don't even have a cat. The itchiness, the hoarseness, the pain, the discomfort and the whole sounding like a man part (if you're a woman, of course) just plain suck. My grandmother used to give me two home remedies when I was a child to cure my sore throat. They've always gotten the job done for me quickly and the best part is that they are 100% natural.

Lemonade

Don't get too excited, now. Picking up a bottle of store bough lemonade won't do much to help your sore throat. The home remedy lemonade you will be drinking is 100% homemade. You will need one cup of water, 2 lemons, 2 tablespoons of honey and a shot of whiskey (optional).

Bring a cup of water to a rolling boil. While your water is working up to a boil, slice one lemon into thin slices and the other directly in half. Typically, I get about 10 slices from an average size lemon. When the water starts boiling, add your thin lemon slices into the water. Wait about 3 minutes and squeeze half of your remaining lemon into the boiling water. Next, add honey and your shot of whiskey. Of course, if you are under the age of 21 or if the home remedy is intended for a child, you will have to forgo the whiskey. Whiskey (or any alcohol) will increase circulation by thinning the blood out a bit. Increased circulation helps the body flush out the viruses and bacteria faster. Let the mixture boil for three to five minutes after all the ingredients are incorporated and serve warm. Drink once per day and you should start feeling better within a day or so.

Old Fashioned Home Remedy

There's nothing fancy about this home remedy, but it's what my grandma gave to me to cure my sore throat, so it's what I'm giving to you. I'm combining two proven home remedies into one treatment to speed things up. All you will need is herbal tea, honey, salt and water. When you wake up in the morning, gargle a warm salt water mixture for about one minute. Then make yourself a cup of herbal tea and add honey and a bit of sugar if necessary, but absolutely no milk or half and half. Personally, I find that chamomile tea works is the most effective and simultaneously treats any headaches and stomach pains I have going on at the moment. Gargle three times per day (morning, mid-afternoon, before bed) and Drink the herbal tea a minimum of three times per day as well. You should start to feel better the very next
