Eye infections are a common part of our daily health issues and often are resolved without any significant medical care. For children who have issues with a stye in the eye, the complications with pain can be of such significance so as to cause distress and decrease in quality of life. If your child has been diagnosed with a stye, it is important to understand how you can provide stye eye relief and provide a quicker resolution to the eye pain.
A stye in the eye is simply a pocket of infected tissue within the area of an eyelash hair follicle. When the follicle becomes congested or clogged, swelling develops and a painful stye will manifest. When a stye develops in the eye, it often feels and looks like a pimple in the early stages of development.
While most stye complications resolve spontaneously within a few days, if your child is suffering from extreme pain, there may be a tendency to scratch and pull at the eye. When this occurs, there is a great risk for developing a more severe eye infection. Providing stye eye relief is the key to reducing more severe eye infection outcomes in children.
Just like using pink eye home remedies, you can often alleviate the stye eye pain your child is experiencing by placing a warm compress on the eye, every two hours, to help minimize swelling. In addition, use over-the-counter ibuprofen products that are approved for use in children. These two stye eye relief remedies will promote a reduction in swelling and, thereby, help your child to resolve the stye issues quicker.
When in doubt about your child's eye health, always seek out medical attention from a licensed healthcare provider. For this type of eye complication, a pediatrician or general practitioner can provide the care needed but, in some cases, a pediatric ophthalmologist may also be needed. The key to your child's optimal health will come by way of managing pain and reducing inflammation so your child's stye can resolve spontaneously.
