There are many different reasons you could be experiencing wrist pain. Carpal tunnel, gout, arthritis, and broken bones are among some of the most common things that can make you experience wrist pain. Other things might include tendinitis or injury. If you have a diagnosis from your doctor on what is wrong with your wrist and he or she says it is okay that you use home remedies then keep reading. Here are some of the best home remedies for wrist pain.

- Do not ignore the pain.

- Stop the actions that triggered the pain, and then slowly increase them again with a greater effort to keep your wrist straight.

- If you cannot stop the actions change the way you are doing them so you do not stress you wrist.

- Alternate tasks; do not spend more than a few hours doing things with your hands a day.

- Exercise your hands by doing wrist circles and by stretching your fingers before, during, and after an activity that will make your wrist hurt.

- Usage of a wrist pad with your pc mouse and/or keyboard may help a little. However, do not continuously lean on this pad for support.

- Use over the counter medications, such as aspirin and acetaminophen for the pain.

- Take ibuprofen to relieve swelling and pain as directed on side of bottle.

- Change the activities that cause you pain.

- Wear a wrist splint during hands on activities.

- Wear a wrist splint when you sleep.

- Exercise your wrist to strengthen it.

- Try 50 mg of vitamin B twice a day. This can reduce wrist pain. Talk to your doctor before doing this.

- By reducing your salt intake you could reduce swelling in your wrist.

- Do not sleep or sit on your hands.

- Eat cherries or drink cherry juice. This is highly recommended for people with gout pain.

These tips are great for at home care of your hurt wrist. However, there is a point when the pain is too much or has been around for so long you must seek medical advice. Here are some reasons for you to seek a doctor's care.

- When you do not have a diagnosis of why you are experiencing wrist pain.

- To fit you with a wrist splint that lets you move your wrist backwards no more than 15 degrees.

- Surgery is needed.

- The pain or numbness is not relieved by changing positions, ice, over the counter pain medications, or rest.

- If your hand muscles or grip becomes weak.

- Your minor pain symptoms do not improve.

- Your numbness persists; this can lead to permanent loss to hand movement.
